SHARED STRATEGY WORK CREATES COMMITMENT AND A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

ID BBN, a Turku-based company specialising in data-driven marketing, wanted insights into their strategy work, and therefore Susanna Juusti, who is responsible for the company's customer experience, decided to contact Humap in the spring of 2021. A strategy process began, which included the whole ID BBN personnel of about 50 employees in the top level strategy work.

MORE PARTICIPATION AND COMMITMENT AS A STARTING POINT

ID BBN’s management team wanted to take its strategy work to a new level and achieve its goals with a clear roadmap. The pandemic had kept people working remotely for a long time, so the management team wanted to bring staff together and nurture a sense of community with a common cause. When it came to choosing the right strategy partner, the most important thing was a consensus on participatory leadership.

ID BBN doesn´t believe in one-way, top-down management – the company’s management team has found that people find the answers themselves when given the space to look for them.

“Humap’s way of doing things together, as a shared strategy process, was crucial for us. We definitely wanted to involve staff – a mutual process serves both teamwork and development work. Wisdom does not come from just one mind or the management group,” Susanna Juusti says.

FROM STRATEGY WORK TO FACILITATION OF THE COMPANY MERGER

During the first phase of the shared strategy work, the key themes of ID BBN’s strategy and projects related to them were established. They were put into action immediately in spring 2021.

The collaboration between Humap and ID BBN will continue into spring 2022 when ID BBN and Luxus Worldwide merge. The new company, created from the merger, will employ nearly 100 international professionals, and Humap will be involved in facilitating the merger of the two organisations and the two corporate cultures.

Juusti is thankful that ID BBN had a suitable partner ready for the merger: “We now have two communities in the merger phase with employees all over Europe. Humap has a long history of developing a digital culture, and they also have the tools and platforms needed for it.”

RESULTS OF THE COOPERATION CAN BE SEEN

The involvement of Humap in ID BBN´s strategy work is reflected in many ways. Involving staff in the process has brought teams closer together and engaged sought-after top professionals in the company; employees value the opportunity to influence the company’s development. Strategy, vision, and growth now form a concrete, mutual project.

The shared strategy work also highlighted the silos and the fact that avoiding silos in the first place requires active work and bringing people together. People were mixed in different teams for development planning and to work on the processes.

Even now, during the work related to the merger, it can be seen that the staff of “Luxus-ID” dare and want to be actively involved in planning.

It is clear that shared strategy work has been a positive experience. It has also increased transparency and a sense of security in the work community.

“Humap is a good all-inclusive partner for leading expert organisations. I recommend Humap especially to companies that want to involve employees or look for new ways to develop a culture of hybrid work and remote working,” Juusti states.
